Public Safety RPAS Training

Looking to elevate your team’s capabilities with professional RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) training? At Altohelix, we are proud to deliver comprehensive, industry-specific group training programs designed to empower organizations with the skills, knowledge, and certification needed to excel in today’s fast-changing drone landscape. Whether your team is new to RPAS or scaling up complex operations, our training ensures they are prepared, compliant, and confident.

Altohelix provides comprehensive RPAS training for Police, Fire, EMS, and Search & Rescue teams. Programs cover Transport Canada certification (Basic & Advanced), practical flight skills, and scenario-based training — including Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS) and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) familiarization.

Why Choose Our Training?

Scenario Based Training

Our training for public safety agencies doesn’t stop at certification. Together with our industry partners, we’ve developed a multi-day, scenario-driven course that immerses students in realistic emergency response operations. Participants practice multiple drone deployment scenarios designed to prepare them for real-world emergencies. With our strong background in traditional aviation, we’ve also created Crew Resource Management (CRM) courses to help students develop communication, decision-making, and coordination skills essential for operating effectively in high-stress aviation environments.

Standard Operating Guidelines

To support consistent and compliant RPAS operations, Altohelix provides each participating agency with customized Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) and Operations Manuals aligned with CARs Part IX requirements. These documents serve as the foundation for safe and efficient deployments, outlining procedures for flight planning, risk assessment, crew coordination, and post-flight documentation. Our manuals include everything from training and certification tracking to emergency procedures and maintenance logs, ensuring that every member of your drone team operates within Transport Canada’s regulatory framework while maintaining operational excellence in the field.

Hands-On Experience

Our training programs are built around a hybrid learning model that combines self-paced online coursework with immersive, in-person training. The online pre-course modules cover all theoretical exam preporation components — air law, meteorology, flight operations, and human factors — allowing participants to study at their own pace before attending the field sessions. This ensures that the in-person component is entirely focused on hands-on experience, practical flight maneuvers, and real-world scenario application. By mastering the theory in advance, students can dedicate their on-site time to building operational confidence and applying their knowledge in realistic mission environments.

Regulatory Compliance & Certification

Altohelix guides your team through Transport Canada requirements, helping them achieve their RPAS Advanced Operations Certificate and preparing them for future regulatory changes. Sucessful completion of our PSA courses include Transport Canada RPAS certfication.
